Gom Inspect - Free version suddenly quit opening

I went to open Gom Inspect today and it pops up like it is starting then closes. When I click on a previous file made it starts to open then gives an error: "Sentinel key not found (H0007)", followed by "Error GTOOLS-0001: Invalid License"

I have a free license setup. Not sure what happened or how to correct it. I have repaired the installation but have not tried to uninstall and reinstall as I am not sure if that will kill my license. Does anyone have experience with this or know how to correct it? I had replaced my motherboard & CPU on this desktop several months back, which caused me to need to get a new free license. I am afraid if I reinstall I will need a new license and it's already used my 2 licenses for the year.

Hi Chris,

this error can be caused by two issues.
The first one could be that you endpoint protection got an update and is now blocking access to the folder: "C:\ProgramData\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LDK\installed\4226029\"

The second reason could be that the file where all the licenses get stores got corrupted somehow. To fix this please try the following:

1. write down all the activated entitlement IDs

2. revoke every license you have acticated

3. Close down the ZEISS Quality Suite (ZQS) and make sure its also closed in the windows tray.

4. delete the content of "C:\ProgramData\Zeiss\License"

5. start the ZQS as administrator

6. as soon as the ZQS is fully started close it down again and start it as a normal user

7. activate every license you wrote down earlier again.

This should fix the issues.

Thank you,

Where would I find the activated entitlement IDs? I looked in License Manager on Zeiss Portal but that says its only for Customers with SMAs.

I found my entitlement IDs in my email, but I am not sure how to deactivate them. The ZQS doesn't open at all so I don't have any way to manage the licenses as far as I know.

Hi Chris,

if you can not open the ZQS at all you should contact your local SSC to get this fixed. Without the ZQS you can not activate the licenses correctly.

I am not sure if this will fix your problem, but when I upgraded to Windows 11 I kept having ZQS X-ray Pro 2023 revert to Viewer Only mode (like the free version). I did some investigating, and something in Windows 11 constantly scans processes for potential malware etc. For whatever reason, it saw CODEMETER RUNTIME processes as malware and would shutdown the service. Try this fix, worked for me and I haven't had an issue since.

To ensure that a service, such as the CodeMeter Runtime, refires immediately after it is canceled (stopped) in Windows Services (services.msc), you can configure the recovery options for the service. Here's how to do it:

Open Services Management Console:

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.

Type services.msc and press Enter.

Locate the CodeMeter Runtime Service:

In the Services window, scroll down to find the "CodeMeter Runtime" service or whatever it's named in your installation.

Open Service Properties:

Right-click on the CodeMeter Runtime service and select Properties.

Configure Recovery Options:

Go to the Recovery tab.

You will see options for First failure, Second failure, and Subsequent failures.

For each of these options, you can select Restart the Service from the dropdown menu.

You can also specify a time delay in the Reset fail count after and Restart service after fields (for example, set these to 1 minute).

Apply Changes:

Click OK to save your changes.

I set mine to 1 sec or immediately, so when Windows 11 randomly decides CodeMeter Runtime is malicious, it refires immediately, never dropping the license.
