[Pa...]
My company has isolated all CMM computers from our network. When an inspection is needed we fetch it from the network, manually move it to a "jump box" (a term used by my IT dept to describe a NAS setup), and run it from there. This causes problems with management of .gear files. The location of the .gear file requires a different reference with each move of the measurement folder. I've considered simply copying gear files to the local computers' C:, but this causes issues when changes are required(which happens all the time in my world), chasing three or more copies of a gear file and updating all correctly. An ideal solution would be to use a relative reference for the location of the gear files. I'd like to dump the correct gear file right into the measurement folder and reference that folder every time. As it stands there's an absolute reference. I write offline and save files to a location on the server mapped to J:. We move the program across to the jump box (I'll call it Z:). Calypso now wants to look to J for the .gear, but is isolated so cannot see it. I do not want to store files on Z: because it ain't backed up. Anyone know how to use a relative reference in Calypso, so that it always looks to the measurement folder for files regardless of where that folder is located?
