Formula function option not available

Im trying to find out some information. I am working with an offline seat of calypso 2023. im fairly new to the calypso software but i have been through first and second training classes. I have run across my first instance of needing to use formulas today. i went to the formula builder and tried to use the functions button to make up a simple formula and it gives me an options not available: PMC error message. Is the formula function builder not something that comes with calypso or is there something I am missing?

Go to Extras-settings-Miscellaneous, and check to see if the offline seat A) has a PCM license , and B) It is activeimage.thumb.png.8f31ad1e40f8cdb6fe6e1c0f86481f57.png

Depends on what you are trying to use. You can use some basic formula if you know the syntax by simply typing it in instead of clicking the function lookup button.

To be able to use full functionality, you need PCM license.

That function button used to be available to everyone, but not all of the functions were, so they had that enabled by the PCM license a few years ago.

You can still some of them, but especially things that involve reading in PCM files or dealing with files (or branching functionality) at all might be blocked off from your use if you don't have a PCM license. You can see a list of those functions in this thread:

Most functions, though, are able to be made without those functions since most of them from my experience use information from the features and characteristics, which are just in the main function window. Without further information on what you were trying to do, I can't say whether you can do it or not, though.

im not trying to do anything really difficult. basic calculation features seem to work for example adding 2 functions together and dividing them by 2. Things like using functions such as Absolute value ABS() or TAN() as an example come back with errors telling me that the function TAN is not found or function ABS not found. I know in the traning class we could just hit the function button and it had a list a mile long of functions that you could click and use. mine does not seem to have that capability on my offline seat or my actual cmm. that's why I am hoping to confirm this is because of an add on that I don't have for my systems. I have attached a list of my license as well.

What can be a bit confusing is that the courses always include the full version of Calypso. This includes all the options you can purchase.

If you were Zeiss, trying to sell all those options, what would you do? 😉

Keep in mind that all the formula functions always start with a lowercase letter. Longer function names are written in "camel case"

Without PCM I guess you can use >90% of all functions in formulas. What you get with PCM is parameter input sections before and after almost every element of the inspection plan where you can enter complex code sequences.

Leider ist dieses Fenster nicht mehr in den aktuellen Versionen ohne PCM vor handen. Ich glaube das ist schon seit Calypso 2020 so.

Just refer to this for official commands - most will work without the PCM license, but like Kevin stated there are some that will not and it will just give you an error.
