[yo...]
I have had about enough with Windows and I am seriously considering just going full Linux and just find the best workflows I can with Linux compatible software. I did a search and I found some threads talking about GOM Linux. Am I right in thinking this was an actual linux distro or operating system? I can't find any information on it and no mention of it after like 2021. I have found other links suggesting Zeiss Gom Inspect can run on Linux, and other Zeiss website links talking about UMESS? For Unix/Linux? And another promoting FOSS software. It seems like Zeiss/GOM has a lot of close ties to Linux but I can't find confirmation, downloads, or info on a current Zeiss/GOM inspect for Linux. Is Zeiss/GOM inspect available on Linux? If not has anyone had luck running it on WINE or virtual desktop or anything?
[Je...]
Not supported - UMESS hasn't been supported in ... 25 years?
[No...]
Fun fact 😛 There was a UMESS-LX version long ago. It was end-of-sale in 2005 and end-of-support in 2010. Surprisingly late in my opinion . No Linux versions of anything on the horizon since then. Edited 16 hours ago
[Ch...]
Short answer to the original poster: There was a LINUX version for the GOM software decades ago running on a modified Linux distribution (sometimes called GOM Linux). But development was discontinued somewhere in the area 2011/2012. Since then only a Windows version is provided and supported. Â Sorry for this.
