Alignment Using Cylinder Paths

Hi,

I am working with a part that contains 20 cylindrical bush holes distributed around its perimeter. I also have a 3D scan point cloud of this part. My goal is to align the point cloud to the CAD model using these 20 cylinders as reference features.

It is important for me to align based on the manufacturing path of each cylinder, not just their geometric positions. However, I haven't found a method within the alignment tools that allows for this specific approach.

Do you have any suggestions or recommended workflows for achieving this type of alignment?

Thank you,

Farbod.

Would local bestfit be enough for you? Make solid datums and for rotation use local bestfit with selected just inner part of those cylinders. Then allow only rotation

I've just tested, but i don't have model.

You can use Construct -> Local Coordinate System -> Create datum system - you can add as many elements and select as rotation ( >< ).

This you can tryout
