Joystick box function keys

Its been a while since I went to training, and I don't know that this was ever covered.  We have a Contura G2, and a recently updated joystick box.  What are the function keys on the box used for?  Is there a list of what these do, and if not, can they be programmed for myself.  If possible, I would like to start with a simple command to move the stylus to a specific position in the machine's coordinate system

The joystick box manual should have a list of all "public" key functions. You can find it on the portal under Documents. There's probably also a copy somewhere on the forum. I don't think you can put custom functions on the keys.

There is a manual which can be found online, which includes the various function key functions. However, be extremely cautious with the use of these functions, as they are intended primarily for service use to be able to manipulate the system without using Calypso at all, or to bypass certain functions in order to repair or recover from some conditions, and their behavior may not be exactly as you expect. They can lead easily to damage to various components. For example, the "release" command will release the stylus immediately, without any further confirmation or warning, and with no communication to Calypso, so the software will still think it has the stylus. This frequently leads to broken probes either by hitting the granite due to being unprepared to catch the probe, or a probe change being executed via software without proper communication to the software of what probe is in the head. Another example is the presence of a warmup cycle, which is intended for use by Zeiss Service, and will cause the system to crash at full speed if there is anything mounted to the table such as a fixture or rack.
