I was told that lenses for volume 50 cannot be used on a scanbox.

This is because they are slightly elongated and can cause a moment, which can affect on accuracy.

But i not sure.

Same thing we were told. In my experience I can only assume that would be correct. I get enough repeated measurements on the 170 lens in a 5120 scanbox, and use an older MCXL system w/100 lens for fine detailed scans.

I'm not certain if you can use a MV50 or not. None of my documentation says what FOVs you can/can't use - it just lists max part size.

Having said that, the MV50 is intense to use. While the scan quality is unmatched, it is extremely sensitive to vibration, and it can take a long time to process the sheer size of the point cloud.

Most people do not need an MV50. I do have one customer who has it on a desktop stand though, but their parts are insanely small and have insane detail on them.

We have never tried the smaller 100's in the scanbox. I think it's possible, if one were to import the calibration element and add it to the VMR. I do think it would be more headache than anything though. The MCXL in SW ATOS 2018 is perfect for the more detailed projects. Slow in WIN 11, as it is no longer supported.
