Single element alignment

Good mornig to all!

I have a question: is it possible to make a alignment between a CAD and a mesh using only a element? Create, for example, a alignment using only a Z line, allowing only X and Y translation. With RPS this is possible, but I want to know if it's possible to do the same thing with a element like a line (or a plane, or a cylinder etc).

Thank you very much.

I've tried something and i sticked to RPS, where you can use that one element ( i've used a point ), select rule to be able to use that point as only X,Y or Z and use restriction to allow movement in your desired axis.

Yes, that's the way I know to do that, but my question was if it is possible to do the same thing with a 3D element like a cyclinder, a cone or a 2D element like a line, using restrinction to allow some movement. But I think that it's not possible.

I've tried Create Datum System, but this can not be used for main alignment.

Only thing left is Operations -> Manual alignment -> Translate to element. But you can not constrain or choose how it will translate

Hi,

short answer´: This is not possible, but you have already found the correct method: Configure an RPS alignment with associated points where you can restrict the degrees of freedom.

Avoid 'Single element transformation' -> this will usually destroy the parametric how an element is created and how it can be recalculated.

Regards
