[Ra...]
Hello everyone, I am currently using a ZEISS SPECTRUM CMM running CALYPSO 2022 and I am trying to implement a star probe configuration (multiple styli) for measuring internal features. My sensor uses M3 threading, which leads to my core question: Is it possible to attach a multi-stylus star configuration to the VAST XXT sensor on a Spectrum CMM? The Problem I have reviewed the ZEISS Metrology Shop and have started to doubt if the Spectrum machine (specifically, the sensor interface) supports the necessary adapters for star probes. I have already ordered an M3 adapter from a supplier, but it did not fit or connect properly to the machine's sensor. It seems like the standard M3 thread adapters available online are not compatible with the specific interface on the Spectrum. I suspect I might be missing a specific ZEISS M3 XXT adapter component. Request for Assistance Has anyone successfully attached a star probe kit to a ZEISS Spectrum/VAST XXT system? Could you confirm the compatibility of star probes with the Spectrum CMM? What is the exact ZEISS part number for the central star adapter required to connect multiple M3 styli to the sensor? Any feedback or guidance on how to properly accomplish this setup would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
[Ri...]
The XXT on a Spectrum is typically the TL3 which is the most common configuration (you obviously need to confirm which configuration you have). Either way, yes it supports star styli. There are limitations to it though. Weight, length, and how far out axially you build the stylus system (you will see that there is essentially a "goldilocks'-zone" of where you can extend the stylus system out axially). While you can build your own star, Zeiss sells pre-built systems for you to buy. Below is the link for the TL3 ones. https://shop.metrology.zeiss.com/INTERSHOP/web/WFS/IMT-US-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewStandardCatalog-Browse?CategoryName=330322&CatalogID=300000 1
