[Jo...]
We recently put one of our CMM's on 2025 (2023 previously). If there is a torus on a part and it is close to our fixture it crashes in 2025 when it has worked in all other versions from 2018-2023. The movement leading to the torus measurement is not the same as it was previously. We use the clearance plane with no additional move points. The probe moves inside the cube past and to the side of where measurement should begin, then comes back over the beginning of the measurement and starts measuring. We have programs where the torus is not in a spot to allow for this unpredictable navigation I realize we can research which parts have a torus and edit them, but that is time consuming and we would like to avoid that. Anyone else having this issue and maybe have a fix for it?
[Ky...]
I think I have found this bug as well in 2025. It seems to dependent on the exact geometry of the torus, but there does seem to be some strange clearance movements when going between parts of a strategy. [Ri...]
Maybe try setting "Clearance Distance" to zero?
[Cl...]
I had this same issue after updating to 2025 I was able to get around it by Clearance Distance to zero. I did increase the Retraction Distance and added some CMM Position points as a safety net.
[Ro...]
I am having this issue with 2024. I have contacted tech support and it was determined to be a bug, and Germany has been made aware of it.
[Pa...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I also tend to assume there's an unnecessary clearance distance in strategies that behave badly. There usually is in my shop. Why would you ever default this to anything but zero? Turn it on when you need it...
[Ky...]
Definitely turn it off for freeform surfaces as the space axis of those features isn't well defined. Most other features are fine to have on, even if it isn't strictly necessary. Torii are just difficult in the best of cases. I don't think this is a clearance distance issue. I tried it both ways when I was testing it I believe.
[Jo...] Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM I tried running it with the clearance distance set to zero and it still crashes.
[Ra...] Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM Might want to just use a +Z clearance and then put in cmm positions before and after the measuring strategy.
[Jo...] Posted yesterday at 03:27 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:27 PM Randawgg that is what I ended up doing for the couple that have come through so far. We have 30-40ish programs with a torus in them and I don't have every one memorized so this will be pretty inconvenient fixing them as they show up. Unless the good folks at Zeiss can fix and patch this in the near future. Would make for a nice Christmas present. 🙂
[Jo...]
Update...... It has been confirmed by Zeiss that this is a bug in the software.
[Ke...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks for the update. I use torus a lot, so hopefully I'll see when the fix is in, so I can update
[Tr...]
We just upgraded to 2025 and had a crash because of this issue. Adding move points at the beginning and the end resolved the issue for this part, but I will need to review all parts going forward to avoid this happing again. I can see situations where this could been a much more serious crash.
