[Ri...] Posted Thursday at 12:00 PM Share Posted Thursday at 12:00 PM You can avoid that issue and maintain a relatively well align styli by using an indicator on "one" of the styli, let's just pick the Y axis, I indicate one stylus and indicate it in my Y axis to with .001" of travel along the shaft of the stylus. (In some cases, I select a stylus with the greatest over all assembly length). This won't align all styli, but they will be very, very close. This is due to the manufacture of Styli and connecting elements. The mating points of, assuming M5 extensions (you can assume any M2, M3 or M5), the threads are not meant to fit with great precision, they are just threads that meet thread specifications. Zeiss does have a system that is more precise in assembly, but it can be costly compared to generic assembly. I believe they are a cone fit system. I take's me a couple minutes to setup, align. Loosen adaptor screws so the adaptor can rotate somewhat easy. Use the indicator and align the styli. Snug up the adaptor screws. Recheck the alignment again. If all is well, final tighten to spec (I think it's 2Nm). Remember these screws are aluminum, most likely to have a shear factor if you over tighten them, and they can also round out the Hex making them very difficult to remove later. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
