[Ja...] Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:33 AM Hello All, Have a question on a drawing callout related to the tooth angle of an external spline. Never have seen this one before and just wondering have to apply this tolerance using Calypso 2022. It appears to be a ratio in regard to the amount of change over a given distance. In this case the ratio is 63 : 152. Please, see attachment. Thanks for any assistance provided.
[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 06:11 AM Share Posted yesterday at 06:11 AM This is alternative notation. I think you can not set your angle like that - you have to calculate it. I don't see any callouts for those basic dimensions, but i have a little experience with gears. [Jo...] Posted yesterday at 12:13 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:13 PM I have been doing gears and splines for over 25years, mostly ours and a few vendors, and i have never seen a call out like this ... but... it looks like the angle is just the 22.5 pressure angle. I have never seen the pitch diameter have a tolerance but the tooth thickness, space be basic.... does not mean it couldn't be...
[Pa...]
I believe this is the pressure angle given as a slope for some reason. No idea why they drew it like this. I've done involute splines daily for over a decade and never seen this. It's also a weird angle; maybe this is why it's given this way.
