RPS alignment issue

Hi everyone,

I would like to understand what happens if the angular deviation is too large when aligning the physical part with the CAD model.
Since point B1 is located on an inclined surface, is this the reason why this warning appears?

If you have only those 4 points, then i am affraid it's too low number of points for stable alignment.

Sometimes you can help yourself with changing that green icon ( rule ) to apply when needed.

Hello Grace,

yes, the normal direction of the points should be as close as possible to X/Y/Z direction of RPS.

The larger the deviation the larger the possible (repeatability) error, as the part is not aligned

into the direction the actual point (intersection with mesh 41,4° from RPS direction) is measured.

If there are no such points like in your example, RPS might not be the best method to evaluate the part.

Best regards,

Jens Braun

There are not only four target points; there are a total of six. However, an information message appeared that made me unsure whether this point can still be used. It is indeed possible to adjust the green icon. Just used  "Do not use". Thanks.

Do you mean that when I only adjusted along the XY direction, I couldn’t find the optimal position even though the angle had already reached 41.4°?
Later, I tried adjusting in the XYZ directions, and the issue of the angle being too large no longer occurred. Thank you.
