[To...] Posted yesterday at 02:43 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:43 PM (edited) I have a model that was an .stl file and was painfully converted to a .stp file, but is useless to me in Calypso. I have tried healing and it fails to complete process. Any thoughts? Edited yesterday at 02:44 PM
[Ma...] Posted yesterday at 03:42 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:42 PM Have you tried conversion in Fusion?

[Ze...] Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM Hi Tom, I don't know if it's possible to convert polygon-based geometry to unfaceted/smooth surfaces directly. I've never had any luck with STL files other than for 3D printing. It's a pretty old file type. If you figure something out, please post it. Looks like your Patriots are back in the saddle. Should be a fun weekend of football. 🙂

This has always been the holy grail for scanned 3d files but it does not currently exist (to my knowledge). I have tried the same, with no luck.

[Je...]
The mesh modeling tools in Solidworks allow surface creation from polygons, but it's laborious and probably not a solution here. In similar situations, I've had to redrawn the entire CAD, but I sometimes import the existing STL into Solidworks as a reference to sketch around.
