Microsoft update havoc

Last night as I was shutting everything down a WIN11 update installed. This morning, I received an error message that due to an unsigned file in Calypso, it couldn't load properly. I was getting numerous pop-up error messages and a black screen in the work area.

I'm not familiar with the Smart APP Control in Microsoft, hopefully nothing that becomes an issue.

I uninstalled the previous day's update, and everything is working fine now.

Just curious if anyone else has this issue?

Didn't get the latest updates yet, but I'll try to hold them off as long as possible. Windows updates were such a mess lately ( frying SSDs, PCs failing to boot after last update). That's after Microsoft was bragging how much Windows code is written by AI nowadays... Anyway, the Windows Security setting there is a "Smart App control" protection setting. I have it disabled on all PCs as it was not allowing me to install some old software.

  • 3 weeks later...

Good Morning everyone,

we are currently experiencing issues with the latest Windows Updates KB5077181/KB5074105 in combination with Zeiss INSPECT and CORRELATE 2022-2025.

We are gathering all information about affected Zeiss Products on our Software Information Hub:

Software Information Hub

As of now, we are unaware of any CALYPSO Issues regarding the Windows Update, but we are investigating if user issues can be traced back to this Windows Update and we will Update the Software Information Hub continuously.

Best Regards

Marcel

After I disabled "Smart App Control" as suggested by Wojciech Malig (Thank you for that!) I've been able to install Windows 11 updates.
