Constructing a single section - error "Please select points in 3D view"

Hello! I am trying to create a section off of a CAD file, but I am running into an error that says "The conditions which are required for creating the element have not been fulfilled completely. Please select the point in the 3D view." I see the section that I want in the 3D view, and manually selecting my reference plane in the 3D view does not help either. 

Has anyone encountered this issue before? I am new to Zeiss Inspect so this is may be a obvious error on my end...

In Zeiss Inspect you always have to tell software in which part of the model(s) you want the section. Since the model is getting trinagulated after import, you can restrict a section to any portion of the model you want. And that's why you need to select the desired portion of the model with one of the selection functions first (lasso etc.). You can of course also select the whole model. You should find them in the tool bar at the bottom of the CAD view.

One thing to note - sometimes when you do selection by lasso, you can select non-model or non-measured data.

Whenever i do such selection i just click on model or measured model ( or use treeview on left ) and press "E" to show only this selected. This ensures that selection is having what it wants.
