[Iv...]
Short story - A guy on facebook says he sells offline dongle for Calypso 2023 My question is is there any way tho check the authenticity, before purchasing ?
[Cl...]
It should have a serial number attached to it. I'd ask for that and then reach out to Zeiss to confirm.
[Ma...]
Hello everyone, Thank you for your questions and for the discussion on this topic. Please sign in to view this username. : It is crucial to be cautious when acquiring software products, especially from Zeiss. I strongly recommend reviewing the End User License Agreement (EULA), as Zeiss only sells usage rights for its software products. This means that transferring these usage rights is only possible with prior consultation with Zeiss. If someone is offering an offline dongle for Calypso 2023, it is important to ensure that you are not violating any license agreements. It would be wise to ask the seller for a serial number and then verify it directly with Zeiss to confirm the authenticity of the product. In general, it is advisable to refrain from purchasing Zeiss software products through private channels or from individuals to avoid potential legal issues and risks. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out! Best Regards Marcel

[To...]
Please sign in to view this username. Just to clarify. It sounds like you're saying if a company or individual has a legal seat of Calypso Planner/Simulation, purchased from Zeiss, they can legally sell it, assuming they get permission from Zeiss. Is that correct? If so, is there a situation where Zeiss would not allow it?
[Ma...]
Please sign in to view this username. The best way to clarify that matter would be your local sales person but as far as i know you are not allowed to sell the software (you can sell your CMM which you own) but you cannot sell the software since you only own the license right to use it but not the software itself. [Cl...]
Calypso cost what? 8-9 grand and it can't be sold to someone else? What is the customer paying for? It sounds like they are paying to rent it. That doesn't quite seem fair! Or am I missing something? Edited 10 hours ago
[An...]
Please sign in to view this quote. This is a pretty typical approach to software sales, especially for expensive Enterprise software. You're right in that it is not dissimilar from renting the software. You pay for the right to access the software, not for ownership of the software. I'd wager that the majority of the software installed on most people's work computers is similar. Whether it is right or fair is a different (and important) discussion, but it is the relationship we've all agreed to with Zeiss.

[Cl...]
Oh, I see. It's a profit thing. If you sell it, it's one less customer for them.
