Compiling 2D curves with no Freeform

Disclaimer: Need a proper curves class

So I can go around and tackle cutting sections like this cam lobe for instance and choosing the spline it creates to measure 2D curves. I did (3) separate curve scans and recalled points into one compiled 2D curve. When I look at the graphic, it looks like the measured points (green line) and nominal points are center of ball? The small dots near lobe surface are the deviations. With the form being around 2mm I'm assuming/guessing this has to do with center of my 4mm ball?? Not sure. The profile of some of these lobes I measured on Adcole machine and the form error is with "a few microns". I've played around with the digitizing on/off and clicked stylus correction box but it just errors out the software. Any clarity as to what I'm looking at would be appreciated.

So if i understand your situation.

You have created from model 3 separate curves. Now you want to make one from those 3 to check one profile?

What you can do is make new empty 2d curve.
Now at feature's menu you select to modify points -> add points. In that window you can add nominal points from selected feature ( your 1 of 3 curves ) - this way you can add nominals.

What you have done is recalled measured points and recalculated nominals. So now your nominals are at center point of touched point ( with probe radius ).
If you want to make curves like that, then first remove measured points from recalled features - now you can recall measured points and recalculate.

This way it will recall nominal points instead of measured ones.

Or you can create 2d curve just like you have created those separate. Just select all lines.

Don't forget to click button to set this curve as closed loop.
Filtering on closed loops can be gauss. On open curves you have to select spline.

Thanks Martin. Yes, I was trying to create one curve from three 2D segments around lobe. I knew i was doing something wrong just wasn't sure what!! It just didn't look right.
