"Select Inside Sphere" not remembering point when copying project

Hello, I have an application that requires small variations on the same Inspect project. I am therefore just replacing the CAD model and redefining a few features. Most of the rest of the project then calculates automatically. However I have one feature that uses the 'Select Inside Sphere' function for selecting data for a fitting element. The center of this sphere is defined as a constructed point. See image below.

However, when I copy the project and replace the CAD, it doesn't reapply this selection when I recalculate the project. The point it was made with respect to calculates no problem but the selection simply doesn't happen. There are many repeat features like this so it makes copying a project far more complicated / time consuming. More importantly, it is making it difficult to hand this project over for colleagues to edit.

I have also had similar problems using the 'select above plane' and 'select by curve' functions. Am I using these incorrectly? Is this a limitation of the software or a bug? Is there an alternate method?

Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

Hello Tom,

the selections are also parametric, so they should work in another project without problem. In a quick test it worked for me also with replacing the CAD. There are some limits when replacing the CAD though, if the new CAD differs too much. Selections of nominals might not be carried over and curves may lose some information for example. There should be hints in the project guide.

There is a function Operations -> Elements -> Adapt to CAD, which might be needed in your case. Also make sure the used point is created fully parametric with feasible measuring principles.

If this does not help, please reach out to local support with the project so we can analyse it.
