[Ja...]
It's been a long time since I have worked with curve. I sectioned my model to create a yellow line where I want a 2D curve. I clicked on the yellow line to turn it red. I clicked on Curve and a 2D curve is created. When I open the feature and then close it, I get a message "The nominal points lie exactly on a line which is not allowed. Please use a 2D line or a 3D curve.". Any idea why that is? I have a feeling I am forgetting something.
[Cl...]
I see this happen when the "Curve" or a section of the curve is a straight 2d line. I ignore it.
[Ja...]
Yeah, they are straight lines. Thank you.
[Cl...]
It could be the case that when you sliced the model and generated the curve it overlapped on an existing wireframe. Then when you picked the curve, you accidently clicked the line. If that's the case, try moving the curve up or down off of any existing wireframe and pick it again to see if that error repeats. [Ja...] Posted yesterday at 02:09 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:09 PM (edited) I am still having problems creating 2D curves. I thought I knew how to do this. Why am I getting points facing two different directions, and how do I get the vectors perpendicular to the surface? [Ke...] Posted yesterday at 03:05 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:05 PM Select from the dropdown - Nominal Geometry Manipulations -> Change Nominal Vectors; then select "Perpendicular to" or "Parallel to", and then select an appropriate feature... using this method never seems to be intuitive to me for some reason, so you may need to play around with it. I always copy the curve before I make any modifications, in case I want to start from scratch without creating a new curve.
[Ja...]
I remember now. If I create a curve aligned with my base alignment Y axis then it works fine. I created a secondary alignment rotated 10 degrees, made a copy of my curve, called it curve #2, and rotated it to the secondary alignment and the vectors and curve looks okay. It's been a while. [Ni...]
A straight line should be a "3D Curve" feature. It seems backwards, but that is what it needs to be for this specific type of section line.
[Ra...]
I recently had that same error on a straight line. I left it as a 2D curve and thought Calypso was just giving me a dumb warning message. When it came to physically measuring the curve, it didn't calculate any results. 3D curve worked. Just a heads up.
