You have to turn on excel reporting for the plan you are running. Resources, define report, default report/ warning limit, then choose the whichever Characteristic template you want to use. The Characteristic.xlt would be if you are using older versions of Excel that use the .xls format. Characteristics .xlsm would be for newer versions of Excel using the .xlsx format. These templates can be changed to suit your needs. There are some guides if you do a bit of google searching, on how to do that. Here is an older guide, but it can at least give you an idea of what you can do.

You can move your custom excel file to the designated folder on the C drive, then pull it in as a template in Calypso.
