Changing nominals for 2D curve

I have a 2D curve from a finished part CAD model, that is a closed end "circle".

I need to check this curve on a part with a taper, 2 different heights and different "diameter".

Do I go:

2D Curve Nominal Data - Modify Nominals - Nominal Geometry Manipulation - Modify Nominal - Translation - Length

and enter the amount to change the size?

Is the geometry a cone, or similar? You want to scan two circles and different depths?

Did you slice through the model to create the curve? I'm asking these questions to make sure I understand exactly what you want.

Slice the model at the called-out depths, creating two curve segments. If the surface is tapered, you might want to use 3d curve.

Using Length as you marked will move nominals in direction of nominal vectors - aka make diameter bigger/smaller.

To move curve along X,Y,Z it's on another tab "Coordinate axes direction".
If you are lucky and it's only translation in one axis, then it's safe.

Otherwise i would preffer copying this curve, changing it's alignment to have origin and vector from original circle, and just translate.

Another option would be making alternative circle, it's strategy and making new curve from this circle's strategy.

This is a Park Lock Wheel on an output shaft.

I have a finished program with no taper. Before heat treat our process puts a taper on the minor dia (see attached pic).

I'd like to modify the finished program to the sizes on the process specs before heat treat.

From what i see you will report line profile on that R3.5 but not on other radiuses, right?

I would not report anything if it's not in the drawing - aka if there is an addition of a material, then drawing should be either modyfied for that, or for your own purposes you can evaluate it as you need, but i would keep nominals the same as finished part - just to keep info about changes.

Minor deviations should machine compensate - how big is that addition?

It is mostly profiles.

The finished part has no taper. My current program is for finished part.

On the Hobbing operation, there is a taper, so it would have different nominals for the profiles measured at 8mm and 15mm.

I have a CAD model with the taper.

How do I modify this program the quickest to use the new CAD with the taper and different nominals?

I'm new to curve, have not had training yet, so I'm not sure what the steps I have to do.

If I load the new CAD model, do I need to create new sections so the profiles will use the new nominals?

With new model you would need to align new model to correct place ( according to datums and previous model position )

Now it woul be better to create new sections on new model and make new curves, than editing old ones

Hi Monika,

Have you tried using an offset value yet?

I did that in the assessment,  for a fitting with 10 F9 +0.01 +0.043

Christian,

How did you do that? That's after measurement in PiWeb?
