No connection made with CMM

I had an issue with my Contura freezing up. It started doing it almost every time I turned the computer on. Shortly after everything was on it would freeze. I called our IT support which we no longer have on site. They remoted in and ran some disk clean up and who knows what else.  Now I cannot connect to the machine at system start up or by going into Extras, settings, CMM and hitting the connect button. I have restarted the computer with no luck. The drives are on and the joystick box looks fine. The light is on above the M button. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think I should have called Zeiss support instead of IT. Presentation1.pdf

LAN would have also been my first guess.

If drives are on and joystick box looks ok (is it the type with a display?) then connection between CMM and controller seems to be ok. So the problem could be the LAN connection between computer and controller. Also check the LAN card(s).

Yes, calling Zeiss service is perhaps the better idea if they have admin computer access. 😁

The IT cleanup probably disabled or removed some of the CMM startup services. First verify the CMM computer can talk to the CMM. Open Network Connections, then look for the CMM network Ethernet adapter. Make sure its enabled, and has the correct static IP address. Try to ping the static IP address via the command prompt or PowerShell (ping 192.168.X.X) and see if you get a response. If it responds, great. Open Services (type services.msc into the taskbar search area) and look for any Zeiss CMM related services and make sure they are running, and startup type is set to Automatic. If they aren't running, start them manually.

Report back your findings and we can go from there.
