Wrong Symmetry Symbol in Measurement Report

Our customer has raised a concern regarding a somewhat unusual, or possibly incorrect, symbol shown in our measurement report. This has led to some uncertainty on their side as to whether the characteristic is being measured correctly.

We checked the inspection plan, and the symmetry characteristic is selected in CALYPSO in the normal way. The measurement itself therefore appears to be set up correctly from our point of view.

Have you perhaps seen this before, or do you have any idea what could cause this different symbol to be displayed in the report?

This is an issue with using the new GD&T engine characteristics in Calypso 2023. I believe it was fixed in 2024, 2025 for certain it was corrected. I believe it's because the PiWeb bundled with 2023 does not contain the necessary icons for the new GD&T characteristics.

 Hello, the incorrect icon is being measured with Calypso 2020 😎. I don't know the version of the correct icon.

 Oh interesting. I can confirm that Symmetry does indeed work on Calypso 2020 PiWeb reports. 

 

Without access to the PiWeb database, I'm not certain what would cause that. 

This field is what tells the software what icon to use. In the old days it actually uploaded a graphics image for each characteristic, but that is not the case anymore.
