Clean stylus systems in shop floor environment

Hello colleagues,

We have a number of DuraMax machines in operation in our production environment. Despite intensive extraction, there is always some oil in the air, which builds up on the stylus systems over time.

The carbon fibre extensions (ZEISS REACH CFX) are particularly affected. Some of them start to feel a bit sticky after just one year of use. Occasionally, there are problems with the contacts on the old XXT plates that do not yet have gold-plated contacts.

How do you clean your XXT plates and, in particular, the carbon fibre extensions?
We clean the probes with steel shafts and ruby balls using 99% alcohol. 

An automatic probe cleaning system would, of course, be a real hit in a shop floor environment. For example, every five times a probe system is used, the probe would first move to a cleaning station. Well, we can always dream 🙂

I have been working on fitting one of these on two Micura 5/5/5's. Very limited space with our current configuration.

The company was kind enough to send me CAD models for me to establish how to place it on these small CMM's.

My last detail is to make the CMM programs always move up and over the part and never in the -Y axis.

Generell ist das System Sylicleaner ja recht smart. Nur für Sterntaster benötigt das doch ziemlich viel Platz abgesehen von dem ziemlich happigen Preis.

Es wird mit Isopropylalkohol gereinigt und in Stylicleaner ist die Tastkugel das primäre Ziel. Meine Frage war ja auch wie Ihr denn den Kohlefaserschaft und den XXT Teller selber reinigt. Da mache ich mir etwas Sorgen das das Öl aus der Luft in die Kohlefaserschäfte eindringt und diese dann beschädigt.

Wir haben eine Mitutoyo CMM mit dem Stylicleaner. Für den Preis und was der bringt würde ich den nicht mehr kaufen. Auch Mitutoyo sagt selbst, dass eine Gründliche regelmäßige Reinigung von Hand sein muss. Ich benutze die Reinigungstücher von Zeiss und die Reinigungsknete von Renishaw um die Taster vom Teller bis zu Kugel zu reinigen.

Macht der Stylicleaner die Messkugel nicht richtig sauber oder dauert dir das zu lang?

Die Dauer kannst du ja bestimmen wie oft du eintauchst. Mitutoyo gibt dir ein Programm dazu, bei dem der Taster immer eintaucht und rausfährt. Wie oft das passiert kannst du bestimmen. Dann ist es eine Reinigungsflüssigkeit und Druckluft. Wenn du deinen Finger reinhältst wird der nicht mal feucht. Wenn du etwas Staub drauf hast wird er sauber. Wenn der Taster aber Ölig und schmutzig ist bringt der nichts.
