Reverse engineering helical gear

Can anyone give me tips for reverse engineering a 52 tooth helical gear?  I'm not finding much on this topic when I search old threads.

i would probably look for a gear generator and put in parameters i measured at the sample.

Then at some point start checking by surface comparision how close i am getting.

The gear generator is a good idea.  I'll be GOM scanning the gear as well.  Should be able to figure out Helix angle from that.  Just want to hear from people who have experience doing this, it might save me some time.

I got almost no clue about gears 🙂

The best part about the generator approach is, that the parameters it askes for, tell you what you need to measure aswell.
