Designer: How to change sorting for X axis on Line Plot? Instead of date/time from time of inspection, I want to use Manufacturing Time.

I'm pretty new to designer, but I did think this would be easy. We have an automated cell, and sometimes the CMM inspection order isn't the same as the manufacturing order. I want to have a specific template just for this automated cell, utilizing the manufacturing time to sort the X axis. I know that I can click on "single measurements" in monitor and sort that way, but I'm wanting it to be automated for the other people viewing.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't see any options in the line plot properties to change this.

Yes, this can be achieved in Designer.

  1. Select the line plot and open its properties. Under Additional X-axes, add the Manufacturing Time attribute.

  2. With the line plot selected, click the Advanced Sorting button and configure sorting by Manufacturing Time (ascending or descending).

This will display the measurements in manufacturing time order instead of the default inspection order and works automatically for all report viewers.

Since you mentioned that you are new to Designer, I would also recommend attending the basic PiWeb Designer training if you have not already done so. Topics such as chart configuration, sorting, filtering, and report design are covered there and can save a lot of trial and error later on.

Thank you very much Dogan. Super easy and works well.

It took a minute to find the advanced sorting option, so image below to anyone else struggling like me. I studied the properties tab for way too long.

Also, for anyone else attempting something similar, step 1 isn't necessary, only if you want to visually see the time on the axis. I prefer seeing the serial number on the X axis, and just being sorted by the manufacturing time.

Side question Dogan, unfortunately the sorting isn't handling time well. I don't think it's understanding AM vs PM. So, something ran at 1:00pm today is showing up before something ran at 11:30am.

I formatted the value to be exactly like the K4 Time/Date attribute. Is there something else I need to do?
