Im not seeing the new 'big' feature that would have caused the long delay, anyone have any guesses ?

Maybe they had some serious bug squashing to do?

Maybe dark mode was a lot of work ?  🙃

Dark mode was almost done in previous versions so I doubt it. There is a patch already out so it looks like fixing bugs was already happening before release. And the release dates are from last month.

Most likely they are just trying to align the releases of their major software. Calypso, Inspect, PiWeb, and GearPro were all just released. It looks like Calypso and GearPro also now share the same version number.

Two observations:

(1) It's interesting that they marked the release date as October 14th. I'm quite certain it wasn't available until today, November 3rd.
(2) It's also interesting that they labeled it Calypso 2027, but I can understand the marketing implications.

Oh well. I'm looking forward to testing it out!  Thanks, Calypso development team for your efforts.  Greatly appreciated.

Considering how the release of 2025 went, it's entirely possible that they added the feature, but forgot the switch 😉 Can't test it out for now, still waiting for the license update thru the portal. It was "in progress" and it switched back to "Update available".

I generally love dark mode everywhere... but here in Calypso, I don't think it looks very good; it’s not a "soft" black, but rather pitch black, and the contrast isn't well executed. Still, I suppose it’s better than nothing.

Frankly, I wonder where the good old color preferences of the 90s and 00s have vanished to. Back then you could set up your Windows GUI in the weirdest colors if you wanted to, and many applications allowed the same. Making a dark mode yourself was as easy as moving a bunch of color sliders around. But then somebody (the Illuminati?) decided that every OS and every application on this planet should have no more than two color designs - bright and dark. What gives?

I agree on the b/w/g colors, but he last time I saw some even remotely "crazy" car colors was like 20 years ago.

I only just received the license today and haven't been able to test much yet, as I first need to check our production environment. But the dark mode is hideous.
