Cylinder styli calibration

Hello everyone!

I am currently using an O-Inspect 322 with an XXT VAST probe head and Calypso 2021. I would like to know if it is possible to calibrate a cylindrical stylus on this machine? If yes, how should it be done? If not, what are the requirements or prerequisites to make it possible?

Thank you very much!

im pretty sure you cant do automatic calibration for this styli

for disc i use the method on the link bellow, im pretty sure you should use this kind of method.

if anyone know a automatic method please share.

If the cylinder styli have the smi spherical point u can normally calibrate as a normal sphere styli.

Nice video Luis Oliveira.

I use a similar approach with a setup stylus of the same length as my Disk Stylus.

The difference is, I use the Reference Sphere (RS) instead of a Ring Gage.

Based on the thickness of the Disk, I scan three circles as a sphere on the RS.

This allows me to dial in all three axis locations of the Disk and the measured Sphere Size then I scan a circle for the Sphere Diameter based on the as found location of the RS for Size. (I don't use disks with a ball embedded and I don't use push or pull measurements).

I can qualify any articulation that I need based on the Set Up Stylus articulations.

Fine tuning the Axis coordinates and size is manually calculated and entered into the Stylus System Management dialog box.

Note: I do not use CNC qualification. I use a CMM program that runs through measurements and calculate the changes from the results.

(Image is from an offline seat)

I typically re-qualify about every 15 days.

I have been using this method for almost two years now. There is a post in the forum of this concept that I created.

You can run it, but you will have to change to probes you use.

Remember, all this program does is give you values so you can manually change the coords and radius of the disk styli.

I run it two or three times after edits to ensure I get the results required.

Hi,
I do a quite similar way to align a Cylinder styli but I do need as described some rounds and calculate the corrections outside. Then type in the corrections by hand.
This take lot of time per styli system.

What I need is an complete automatic program wich do the same things but insert the correction values by self. And the best solution is to integrate this to the standard automatic stylus calibration.
Yesss: I have a dream....!

zeiss france sent me a program that makes that but i guess you need to have PCM to modify the stylus names

I have an auto qualification and adjustment PCM program that I created for Disc Styli. It requires you to place the Reference Sphere in the correct orientation for that particular stylus (this will handle a standard 1-5 star cluster if necessary - I haven't ever had a need for RDS and odd angles). The MasterProbe measures the Reference Sphere to set the X Y Z and Radius values. The program will pull all of the stylus systems available from the rack and ask you to select the one you want to qualify. It will prompt you to enter the Disc Diameter, Disc Thickness and the Roller Location (for those that use those).

If anyone is willing to test, and provide feedback, please contact me via PM, and I will share.

I'd rather not post it if there are issues.
