Embed additional metadata into STL output for file details?

This doesn't have to be a script, in fact if there was a way to do this without scripting that would be preferred if possible at all. We would like to be able to add information such as measuring volume and other setup info into the STL file details on export.

Hi,

as far as I know the STL format is limited to to transport vertices of triangles, you can't embed further informations in this format. If you would do so you could break the import of this file into other software packages. 

If you have different information you can share them?!
