Auto line and the orange line

What does this orange line mean?

 I've always wondered what is means, and if you click the blue section line multiple times you can manipulate the orange line. It doesn't seem to affect my outputs from what I see though.

During edit creation we visualize the used selection parameter using orange color. As long as the selection is as you expected you can ignore this. If you improve the quality of the selection parameter you have to ensure that your nominal section has enough points and you are clicking in the center of line to construct. But as told as long as the result is as expected nothing to bother you. Its more a debugging tool in case of errors.
