Use of Track Ball mouse instead of Logitech R400 remote control for ATOS scan

We do scan large parts using ATOS Compact scan III. The Aquisition trigger is using the remote control provided (Logitech R400). The Workstation computer is docked and we have a wall mounted secondary visual display paired. The inspector need to make to and fro visits to visualize complex scanning to rotate and pan the CAD display. Is it possible to use Track ball mouse configured instead of Standard Logitech remote? any help would be appreciated
