[Ma...]
Hello there, I have just started my adventure with DIC. I prefer to learn how to use it before my company will buy Aramis. That is why I was trying to measure sample deformation with my own Nikon d3100. I can see the speckle patern quite well but it is nearly impossible to define speckle for the software "Correlate 2019". What am I doing wrong? What kind of possible solutions can I implement to overcome my difficulties? Looking forward for your reply.
[Ja...]
Firstly the images look incredibly washed out so there is likely no chance to see contrast differences . Flash use , aperture , focal length needs to be fixed. Secondly from what i can see the speckle pattern is going to be very small from that far away Thirdly with a single camera you can olnly capture things in 2d , and you are not square to the samples by the looks of it so this will not help. [Th...]
Hi Marcin, as James already mentioned: the images look very dark, blurry and you capture a 3D-scene which is not suited for single camera DIC. If you want to get into to 2D DIC at least make sure that you have a god signal (thus pattern) and a good signal to noise ratio (good lighting conditions)! This is an quite ok-ish example for contrast conditions (signal to noise ratio: ok. Pattern is not too good, as its quite regular): And this is an example for facet-sizes related to the pattern:
