Can someone explain the Max. deviation of normals option when creating a surface inspection on actual.  I have read over the definition that the software gives. Although, I would like to get some type of an example of when this would be used or not used. To help me understand the concept.

Thank you,

Brad Burkett

Hello Brad,

the parameter checks if the two surfaces (actual and nominal data) are logically ("semantically") the same. If the normal of one point on the actual mesh does not fit to the corresponding point on the CAD, the surface deviation will not be calculated at this point. On actual data radii exist, where a CAD has a sharp 90° edge for example. With this parameter you could tell the software to not compare these areas.
