Drives not turning on

Hello,

Checking to see if you anyone else has experienced this issue.
We have a Zeiss Prismo Navigator - Mass- 7/9/5 HTG, and the "Drives" button will not activate.
The light will flash off and on rapidly while pressing the button on. Then stays off once it is released.
We have shut down all systems numerous times then restarted with no success.

Look for a dirty scale. The reader head might be hitting a dirty spot on the scale. This has happened to me before.

Every time I've had trouble getting the drives to turn on, it this has been the issue. The remedy is to carefully manually move the machine towards the middle of the envelope (which you can do when the drives are off). Hope that does it for you!

Hello, thanks for the replies.

Currently, the machine is pretty much in the center of the measuring envelope.

What is strange is that I can move the CMM manually in only the X direction.

Also consider a fault in the controller. It has plug-in cards for various functions like the axis drives. If the controller cabinet is moved or otherwise treated ruggedly, one of them may pop out.

On my Accura there was a small hole in the plastic/foam cover over the Z axis. It was on the left side if standing in front of the machine. If you stick a screwdriver or Allen wrench in the hole and press real hard you would hear an air hissing noise, and you could grab the head and move it in Z. It was a manual air brake release.
