Start Alignment -Sphere auto measure

I have a fixture with a tooling ball for use in a Start Alignment. Is there a technique that I can use where the operator only needs to manually touch off on the top of the sphere and then the sphere measures 5 or 6 points automatically, then runs the base alignment?

TIA

Could you try creating a Point at the top of the Sphere, and then using a formula inside of the Sphere to pull the X,Y,Z of the Point (you'll need to have it offset based on the Radius of the Sphere to get it back to center).

Then you set the Point to Man inside of the Features Setting Editor.

Great idea Richard but can be even simpler than that.

Use that single point in Z as your Start_Alignment. The 2 spheres can then be used in the Base_Alignment and part specific Base_Alignment changed to a Secondary_Alignment (or build the sphere alignment in as a formula refenerence but now its getting complicated again).

Countless ways to do this.

I would use a sphere in start alignment, but it's XYZ would be from a touch point setted as MANUAL - so it should ask you to touch a sphere - it gets X and Y and for Z it would be formula with sphere radius.
