Temperature Probe PCM readActualWPTemperature?

Hi All
We have a rotary table and temperature sensors on flying leads (which we cant use for obvious reason)
We are trying to read the workpiece temperature at start and end of program with a temperature probe inserted in the vast head.
we have activated the temp comp and selected the temp probing feature from the vast head .
In the result element we have tried readActualWPTemperature() but this reads the flying lead sensors 1+2 (we found this out by holding flying leads in our hand)

Is there some more we should type in the brackets so we are using the vast temperature probing?

Shabu pv,
I don't have a picture of an actual temperature probe on hand currently, but here is an image of the model from Stylus System Creator, which also includes the part numbers for the stylus itself as well as the Temperature Probe adapter plate that is needed for it. 2915_a168544fbaf36f778b83c7d6b8db4088.png
If you have additional questions about it, feel free to ask here, or contact the Zeiss Helpline.

These temperature probes are also not applicable to the VAST XT style sensor.

Matthew,

If you are wishing to use temp comp from any probing other than the initial probing from the temp comp feature, I am afraid that is not a possibility. The temp comp is applied only from that initial probing to the best of my knowledge. It is possible to create additional temperature readings but they will not affect any temp comp calculation.

Hello Jeffrey, i hope you're OK,

Could you please tell me if the Contura MASS machine with Probe Head "VAST-XT gold" is able to drive a Temperature Sensor Stylus??
I tried to set it in another machine with another Probe Head (VAST GOLD) and I Could but in machines with VAST-XT gold no, is it some limitation for this type of Probe Head?

Thank you!

Contura MASS machine with VAST-XT gold support temperature sensor.
To add to the system, the sensor must be loaded to the head, then add a new stylus system and on the geometry list on the calibration window, you will have a temperature sensor.

Unfortunately, Temp Probes are only compatible with VAST GOLD sensors. This is the reason you were not able to add this stylus system through CALYPSO. You cannot use Temperature Probes on a VAST XT, VAST XTR or VAST XXT.

This is incorrect. Temp Probes are not compatible with VAST XT sensors and thus only available on (currently) PRISMO and ACCURA CMM bases using the VAST GOLD. The VAST XT GOLD (and XTR) sensor has an interference boss that prevents interface to the Temperature Probe (notice in the image above, the plate is solid without a clearance hole). The VAST XT head also does not have necessary connection points for the temp probe data transmission (so, no, you cannot just drill a hole in it).

We use the magnetic contact type temp sensor. There are certain programs where we have to remove it once the program starts. We are aware that the temp reading only occurs once at the beginning, but at what point does the machine read the temp? Before it touches the part with the probe or after it begins the probing...I think I just answered my own question...Since it is compensating the data, it must read the temp just before it starts collecting data, right?

Thank you so much for your responses.
There
Now I understand that with my Contura MASS with VAST-XT Probe head is not possible uses a Temperature Stylus. Therefore, the options left to me for measuring temperature are:
- Buy the HTG for Contura + Temp Unit for C99 (plus cables and another accesories needed)
- Buy a Reliable Temperature Measurement Device to upload manually the temperature in the case that machine ask me.

I didn't want to leave to write this small summary in order to help the next person that will be in the same position of disacknowledge that me when started with this post.

Thank you!

I don't have data that backs this but if memory serves, the temp data is collected prior to any measurement data being collected.

It is also possible to have CALYPSO read a file containing temperature data if you use a 3rd party data provider. This way you could have a temp sensor that is reading every 1-2 seconds (or some other external prompt like "inspection_start.bat") and creating text files with current temp data. This takes some configuration but is possible.
