Representation in Features Menu

Recommended Posts

Chad,

I believe this is new to 2024. Which also adds the ability to use the transfer format tool to transfer this setting as well.

The sad part is that the old feature representation window (I believe prior to 2018) was actually much more efficient than the new one. 🙁
Yes, this button was added in 7.8 (2024) to save programmers a few click. Avoid the need to use the Feature Representation icon at the top and then add features individually in that window.

Although now you have me wondering what the tool looked like prior to 2018, I can't recall myself.

Better, but still can't understand why we can't have both Polar and Cartesian at one time, with just a toggle to pick which set is driving and which set is driven....

The old menu was definitely better, although a warning for anybody with particularly old programs. That IS one of the things that doesn't translate into newer software if you bring an old program into 2018 or newer. You may have to redo those settings.

This is what it used to look like - it wasn't pretty. Haha. The main advantage of the old versus the new was being able to select as many features at once and change the representation all at once. Now it is a process of opening up the Features Representation window, adding the features, and then selecting each one individually and changing them one at a time.

I appreciate the redesign at it does look cleaner and now you have the ability to change the default behavior of a specific type of feature, but we lost the ease that the legacy method had. 🙁
