[Ja...]
Hi All, Measured a diameter (highlighted) in three places as there was found to be a taper. Was told (once part was off machine) to measure as a cone, and output diameter from one 'magenta line' to the other. Basically the extremities of the diameter at either end. As I had already measured 3 circles, I recalled points as a cone then tried the 'circle on cone' feature, using the 'move nominal position along the axis' button. I expected to see a different diameter as I change the Y value (Part is a shaft and sits on machine along Y axis) but this doesn't seem to be the case. Am I missing something. Images attached to aid, thank you. JackRecall Cone.JPGCone Dia 2 Values.JPGCircle on Cone.JPG
[An...]
Try using cone calculation instead under constructions. That should give you a live diameter change as you move the depth around.
[Ma...]
Wouldn't be better to use intersection with planes?

[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Cone calculation construction allows you to select planes and gives the same result as intersection construction.
[Ma...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks - i always forget about this. Anyway you need to know some distance to get it, so it's not a bad advice from me to use planes and intersections if that distance can vary 😕
