I am working on defining a new stylus system holder, we have the Pro Max E stylus rack that moves back and forth, I cannot probe the stylus holder dimple since the rack is not coming out.

Anyone know where the command is to move the rack? It has been a while since I have done this.

Thanks
Andrew

The rack should come out automatically when you select the menu command to probe the holder. But the system first needs to know which slide the holder belongs to.

I don't know how the ProMax E works, but our old ProMax racks used an encoder module in every movable unit. Our rack had two stylus holders on every slide, and on the PCB of the encoder, jumpers had to be set, telling the module what stylus holder letter it had to react to. This was not meant to be done by the customer, but was set by the tech who installed the rack. The module was sitting under a lid screwed to the back of each unit.
Either something like this is also present in the ProMax E or there's some other means (software?) to determine which unit a holder belongs to.

Hello Andrew,

I believe if you go into the automatic stylus change menu, highlight the correct rack (I would assume there is only one, but can't be certain), and then select "Approach parameters" in the right dropdown, there should be an advanced options button. In there I believe there should be an option to move out or retract the ProMax holder. Note in the image below it is grayed out, but that's because the rack I am looking at isn't a Pro Max holder.

I hope you find this helpful.
