[Dy...]
So, I'm trying to clean up and organize all the random programs and alignments from the previous 2 years of learning and training. I plan placing all the old programs in a .ZIP folder, inside the inspection folder, just to save in case I ever need to refer back. This morning I started renaming all the base and start alignments with the same name as the program and adding the affix _BA or _SA. But, when I "save as", only the bottom name for the Start alignment will save. Both names in the Base alignment windows now match, but I'm curious as to why the top name on the Start alignment window didn't update? Does anyone know the path to the start alignment name so i might go in and manually change these? And, of course, I'm proofing these changes before just releasing back to the machinists. I'm well aware that when you make ANY change to a base alignment, weird things can happen. I attached a couple pics of these name I'm referring to. Though i did have to blur some of the title, or I may get a lashing from the big boss 🤣 Thank you all for the help!SA.jpgBA.jpg

[Dy...]
Please sign in to view this quote. They probably are stored in the same location, but I'm still unsure of the file path to find them. I could probably manage to find the alignment file, but I'm sure there are many subfolders and documents associated with it, so I'd rather wait on advice from someone who has done this before. No rush, this is a long-term project.
[Ma...]
I think that path to them is c:\users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\Calypso x.x\workarea\basesystems
[No...]
Is there a special reason why you want to rename all the base alignments? Were the training parts fixtured at a specific location on the CMM, which will never change? Because if they were not, I wouldn't even bother to rename or at all keep the base alignments. The files in the path Martin gave, are just the actual alignments you have probed on that specific CMM. If you didn't use a fixture that is reproducibly fixed at a certain spot on the CMM, you don't need these files anymore. The definition of the alignment is stored in the measurement plan and without a fixture you'd need to reestablish each of them anyway. If however you were using a fixture, wouldn't it be easier to just make a seperate directory named "basesystems" in the ZIP file and move all the alignments with their original names to that folder? That would allow you to restore them at any time by just copying them back to the original folder, plus they wouldn't clutter your basesystem folder in the meantime. Just make sure you don't name another important base alignment the same as one of the training files. To copy/move an actual base alignment, copy its whole subfolder. Each subfolder contains three files: data (the actual alignment) username (name of alignment) version (Calypso version with which it was created)
