Missing data

After running a type-2. Four parts in several different trials reported no result for one dimension.
The remaining parts/runs measured and reported as expected.

In place of a result this is what we see on the (compact) report.

“No Result : FFS-21b("#21") > Nominals not lying on CAD model”.

This is a free form surface created from several curves. Any ideas as to why this happened?

How it looks when opened and loaded in programming? Does it show green arrows for measured data? Does curves measured data?

I don't see it often, so i just imagine what can go wrong. Do you have selected face on model for FFS? Curve search distance?

Clark,

I feel your pain, I mean you programmed the FFS nominals FROM The CAD model, so how can they be off right ??

search up 'nominals not lying on CAD' and you'll find many others experience this as well.
It still happens to me often and I have a theory why , its due to the way we program from a saved alignment.

That being said the only work-arounds that have worked for me are : if you can visually see actual points are indeed far off the model, temporarily shift your model, Calypso should now be able to calculate. I realize this is not ideal for multiple tests.
Second would be to do a best fit inside the FFS translating in the axis that would move the points onto the model.

Good luck.

Chris. When you say; "temporarily shift your model" do you mean simply translate in Cad model transformation
and then back again? The best-fit you suggest, I'm not sure I can then use that in the evaluation as it is
being evaluated back to a Datum. My understanding is that the best-fit can only be used where no datum is referenced.

Clark,

yes I mean translate the model temporarily - has worked for me in the past.

the best fit I mean is one along the space axis that is normal to the FFS.

For example if you are looking down on any given 2D shape/contour on a piece of paper, then translate in/out of the paper for example. so for example, don't best fit X or Y but fit in Z if the points were off the model along the Z axis.

Have you changed the CAD model? If so, try this:

Open the FreeForm Feature
- Click on Surfaces Used
- Click on OK
- Save Program
- Close program and Re-open.

This solution works for me.
Maybe it`s bug in Calypso
