[Cl...] Posted June 19 Share Posted June 19 I have a drill with a runout callout on the fluted tip. The flutes are not cut relative to any other feature on the part. So, I can't rely on clocking to get a starting point that won't cause the stylus to fall into the flutes. So, I extracted two 3d curves from the flute wireframe, then rotated them around its axis (X) so that they would be in the middle of a solid surface. I also had to change the vectors to perpendicular to the cylinder axis. Then recalled the points into a cylinder. My question: is this strategy appropriate or is there a simpler way? [Er...] Posted June 19 Share Posted June 19 It's appropriate. Another way is to click out points where you wish, and turn them in to at point set.
