Editor for User Defined Report Header Variables

Can someone explain the two items listed below found in “Resources→Design Custom Report→Editor for User-Defined Report Header Variables…” does? I have tried keeping and removing the check, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I know one of them needs to be checked, but don’t know why.

• “Allow Editing when editing the inspection plan”
• “Allow Editing upon CNC start”

The first option means you can fill out the parameter when you create the measurement plan (by selecting the corresponding menu item). This is normally used for data that is entered once and rarely changes afterwards, like the part name.

When the second option is checked, the parameter is requested every time you start a CNC run. This is for data that changes frequently, like the job number.
