[Da...]
I have a part with a radiused groove feature running down the side of it. When I click "define/select geometry" and try to click anywhere along this feature, it does not recognize any of it as anything. Is the reason it doesn't recognize it on the CAD model due to limitations in my software? As you can see it goes up and then bends into the part. Is this something I would need curve/freeform for? (I have neither and am not sure which one I would actually need but I have been told they come as a package.) I was able to touch off on the part and create a circle, which gave me the radius. But I also need the angle of the bend and the Z distance of where the bend is. I tried touching off on the part and creating 2 cylinders, but that didn't work very well for a few reasons: I was not sure what to correct the nominals to, other than the diameter (since the radius is on the print.) But when I corrected the nominal diameter, it moved my points and they were no longer touching the part when viewed on the model. It would not let me intersect them (would not allow me to click "shell" on both at the same time.) Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated!Capture.JPG
[Ro...]
Did you try creating a section of the part down the middle of the groove, then creating lines off the section? Intersect the lines to get the Z value and ask for an angle between the 2 lines.
