I remember asking about measuring gears with line scan a couple years back and I think the answer we came to was that it would be hard for the laser light to bounce off of the flanks and get reflected back into the sensor, just as a matter of geometry.

This is one of those things I would absolutely be thrilled to be proven wrong about and I'm sure people much smarter than I might be able to find a way around it, but at the very least I don't think the linescan is supported in Gear Pro.

Let me know if/when you have something that can easily handle *highly* reflective surfaces, without spraying them.

...May I suggest that you check out the LineScan 2-8, sometimes referred to as the "blue light" LineScan? 😃

This wavelength was selected for its performance on highly polished surfaces, without the need for a matte spray. LineScan 2-8 is the most accurate of our four second-generation LineScan models (2-8, 2-25, 2-50, and 2-100), with an MPE P value of around 3 microns depending on what sort of CMM it's used with.

Are there any online videos/webinars that demonstrate capabilities?
