Clear Looking for run.. Search

Is there a way to make the Looking for run.. dialog clear the search term after running the program?

My main goal is to have operators use a barcode reader to search for the part they need to run. Having to manually clear the search every time before scanning would be annoying. Is there maybe a better way to do this?

Thanks,

Andrew

In CALYPSO 2023 (7.6.12) after performing a search using the tool the previous search should automatically highlight (in gray) as shown below. In my experience because it is automatically highlighted if another value is typed or entered via barcode afterwards it should automatically overwrite the previous highlighted search. So in a sense the previous result will clear itself but just not in the way you are thinking? Not sure if this is new to CALYPSO 2023 or if older versions behaved the same way as well. 822_da3425e7c8c3c23203526921774f9859.jpg
Hope this helps.

I hope you don't mind me interfering. We sometimes have issues with not being able to close the search dialog after a search has been performed. What is causing it and how can I make it go away? Calypso 7.4

Norbert can't say I've seen that issue before. This doesn't happen every time, only intermittently? Is your CALYPSO 7.4 on the latest Service Pack, 7.4.20 by chane? Can you try holding the "ctrl" key and press letter "Y" on the keyboard next time. This will perform a CALYPSO "user interrupt" and can sometimes snap CALYPSO out of a hang-up it's stuck in... Might be worth a try.

I'll try that when I see it next time. On a ceratin CMM it happened every time I used the search dialog. IIRC the problem is that the dialog window either loses its title bar or its moved so far upwards that it's off screen and out of reach, so the window can't be closed. It's a new Contura 6206 that was installed about a year ago. On the old CMMs we never had that issue.

I see what you mean. If the window is opening too high it might also be worth adjusting "Dialogs - Open at last Position" instead of "Under mouse pointer." This can be changed under Extras > Settings > Environment > Font. 822_30def4d6729ff050020c0dec7006efa4.jpg
If the mouse is too high on the screen maybe the window is thus opening too high. Worth a shot at the very least.

Here's a screenshot of the situation:

As you can see, the window seems to have no title bar at all.
I'd rather not use the dialog setting you suggested above, since we're so used to the windows opening under the mouse pointer. I don't think this is the cause, because the window always opens at the top left of the screen, no matter where the mouse pointer was at the time. If it was mouse-related, I'd expect the window position to change slightly each time it's opened, and to see more or less of the title bar each time.
If I open that window on another CMM where the issue doesn't occur and try to move the title bar upwards off screen, it automatically snaps back down, so the whole title bar is visible. This appears to be standard Windows behavior, so I think in this case the window really has no title bar.

By the way, CTRL-Y did not resolve the issue. It only generated an error message "User interrupt".

I get what you mean, mine does snap back as you mentioned, very strange. To me that does look like title bar is hidden off screen and thus why you can't move it to a new location. Are you able to try adjusting your screen size/resolution settings temporarily to see if you can get a different view that allows you to adjust the window and then set your size/resolution settings back to normal. Trying to think outside the box....

Can it have to do with the fact that we use a two-monitor setup now? I've set the vertical position of the right display slightly higher than the left one, so the mouse pointer will stop when I move it to the lower right corner in order to minimize all windows, and not slip over to the right display. Could this vertical offset possibly cause issues?

I will try different screen settings and report back.

Looks like the display offset is indeed the culprit:

Changing the screen resolution does resolve the issue, but only temporarily. As soon as I (fully) exit Calypso and restart, it's back. The only permanent remedy is to set the vertical display offset to zero. Do you know if there is any option in Calypso or Windows that allows me to have both?

I see, good find. Unfortunately I don't. Your guess is about as good as mine. My setup is a little different then yours so it makes it tough for me to test it out for myself. Best of luck but hopefully you are on the right track!
