Was asked to approve a purchase order for this years 2024 maintenance agreement but they don't want to pay for anything until it arrives. I realize there is more to the SMA than just the new version and I'll eventually influence them to pay for it anyway but, I have to do it every year because the pocketbook managers keep changing...smh.
So, I'll go ahead and get this started.
When is the newer version of Calypso supposed to be released?
What great new additions/capabilities are to be expected?

Abbas,

Just throwing this out there, but I would gladly help beta test Calypso 2024, if Zeiss were interested. I am sure several of the metrologists on this forum could provide valuable insight.

Hello All -

Just wanted to clarify the above, too, we have no date for the CALYPSO 2024 release, as Abbas and Jeff mentioned, but Windows 11 is also not yet scheduled to ship on new machines, until after the 2024 release. We also have no official information on what will be included in 2024. Once it is released, you'll be able to see the new features in the Release notes, which can be downloaded in the Download Center on the ZEISS Portal.

As Abbas also mentioned, signing up for notifications in the Download Center will keep you apprised of the new releases, your RSM would also be able to answer any questions you have about the release as well.

Thanks!

I appreciate all the replies.
There was talk last year about them updating the vwnt.exe 32 Cad graphics interface to run completely on 64-bit in the 2024 version and I can only imagine that will take a while to develop.
The 32-bit software is currently limited to addressing only 4 GB of RAM, while the 64-bit software can theoretically address up to 18.4 million TB (terabytes) of RAM.

I don't want to reveal too much or speak in an official capacity pertaining to development topics but I believe you will be happy with the new features in the 2024 release 🙂

Ah yes, this will be a breath of fresh air, some of our programs runs in 5 minutes, but standard report output and files take another 5 minutes, total system freeze..

I can see it now... Calypso minimum required specs : 1 Terabyte of RAM 🤣

A little off subject but, I bought a 1 TB flash drive a few months ago for like $32. I guess I'm old but, I remember when a 1GB flash drive would cost you $150. 🤣 I wish F150 trucks would drop in prices like that. 🙄

I remember when I was in high school, I bought my first flash drive. Everyone was shocked to discover that it could hold 48 floppy disks worth of data. A whole 128MB for only $30!
