[De...]
I apologize in advance if this sounds like a rant but i'm getting a bit frustrated. I will freely admit that I am new to piWeb and maybe I am overlooking something, but I am trying to display plots and it seems like something so simple should not be so hard to accomplish. All I am trying to do is make plots display and save the results to file for the features I want it to. I don't want them for every feature, I don't want to make a special template for this measurement plan. I just want to select the few characteristics I want to save the plots for and save them. This has been possible for as long as I have been using Calypso, now somehow its too much to ask from piWeb? In the past I could make a graphics feature and display multiple plots on one page or seperate them into different pages, this was not some long convoluted process, it was fairly simple and quick. I have managed to make a second printout on the multiple printouts page and direct it to the plot template, and this does at least give me plots, although it seems it will only give me every characteristic that can be plotted in my entire program. Sure I can limit it to only failing characteristics or warning limit, but it does not appear there is any method to choose which characteristics you want to plot. I thought maybe the button in the image below would control this. but apparently not.. No idea what it does, as whether its checked or not it does not seem like I see anything different happening. I figure it would be possible to make a new template that only handles certain characteristics based on some filter but hopefully that is not what is required. Any pointers on how plots are supposed to work would be appreciated.
[To...]
I seem to recall it was the equivalent to the Display Plot and Print Plot options associated with plots when not using Multiple Printout. However, I am getting the feeling that something is broken with 6.4.16 (SP 6). I can't get it to do anything right now.
[De...]
OK well if it did enable / disable the plot, which is what the manual says it does, then that would allow the ability to only plot the features you wanted without plotting everything. I am on 6.4.14 and it does not seem to do anything on this version either.
[La...]
The bubble help that comes up when you hover over that icon says 'Display plots in printout'. Unfortunately, I don't see anything different whether that is checked on or off, but I don't have experience using this button before... That being said, there is almost always a way to accomplish what you want using PiWeb Reporting. May I confirm -- are you looking for these plots to display at the end of a CNC run? What is your criteria for showing or not showing the plots? I.E, are you only showing plots for characteristics out of tolerance? Or is it certain characteristics you've selected that will show whether they pass or fail? Happy to help if I get a few more details.
[An...]
Hallo Derek, did you put a tick here?
[De...]
Laura, The goal is to display (and save in a pdf) only the plots of features that are designated to be shown. The determination of which characteristics to display and save is made on a per part basis depending on the tolerances and customer requirements for each part and are therefore specific to each part. I know there is a method to show only what characteristics I want based on warning limit and based on failing characteristics, but unfortunately that is not going to satisfy our customers, they often want the plots to show them where the variations in thier parts are as much as what the numerical value of the deviation is. They do not require (or want) plots for everything that can possibly plotted however. It appears that the following items are made to do exactly what I want, but simply do not function. 1. The button shown in the picture above. 2. The Right Click context menu when features are selected (which allows to "Show Graphic Result Display) 3. The setting in the characteristic settings editor under piWeb Reporting labled "Display plots in printout" The function of all of these seems to be to allow the programmer to make the choice as to what plots to show and what ones not to, however it appears as though these settings are not currently being obeyed by the software. Andreas, I don't appear to have the same screen for multiple printouts as you do. I am currently on 6.14.1401. I have two checkboxes, hide selected and exchange row template, I have tried with them on and off and have seen no different behaviour from the software, however I could have missed something else. [De...]
Just noticed that should have said 6.4.1401 not 6.

[La...]
I'm just finishing up a document on how to do what you're asking, the best way that I know how, in Calypso 2017.
[La...]
Never mind, I got 80% of the way in my document to realize that custom characteristic attributes are not supported by PiWeb Reporting. I'm so used to SBS/Enterprise that it was just second nature to me to use them. My suggestion was: create a characteristic attribute called Show Plot. Change the attribute for the characteristics you want to display to 'Yes'. Save a copy of PlotProtocol.ptx with a characteristic filter where Show Plot = Yes. Add that as a 2nd printout in Multiple Printouts. But I see that mapping is not an option like it is for measurement attributes (under the Editor for user-defined printout header variables). Unless there is something I'm missing..

[se...]
I just found this thread, and wow! Derek, your first post is EXACTLY my problem/frustration too! I slowly read each reply in this excited to see a resolution to the plot issue...... but seems the trail has gone cold. I've been going thru a forest of paper printouts testing every combination of settings possible, but I still get every characteristic with a plot printed out. Did you ever figure out a solution? Thanks for any help Derek (or anyone!) 😎 (I'm using 2017 sp9 6.4.28)
[Da...]
An old thread, but I still see the same unvanted behaviour in Calypso 2022.
[An...]
That check box and the display plots option is used in tangent to turn on plots in PiWEb. You need to turn on plots for applicable characteristics and also in the multiple report window turn on display plots and exchagne row templates. This will then default the selected plots on everytime CALYPSO generates a standarad PiWeb report.Untitled.png
[An...]
Here is a link to a more detailed guide on how to activate plots using those tools mentioned in this thread. https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base?id=409277
[Da...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks, I try to modify the StandardProtocol to get only selected full-page plots at the end, but I would still like selected only in separate full-page plots pdf.
