Corrupted CAD model?

Something strange today, I wrote a program checking surface profile.
This program has run fine for several years. Then today the profile
deviation was like about 16mm (the tolerance is .003).

After 30 minutes of troubleshooting, I deleted the model and imported
a fresh one. that fixed it. Any idea how and why this could have happened.

Yes it is. A cylindrical part (surgical drill). Datum -A- at one end the surface to be evaluated at the other end.

If I had to guess, there was a point somewhere there should not have been. When the software did its calculation for surface profile (assuming bilateral with one result which is the absolute value of the max deviation multiplied by 2) it was using this point to calculate. Perhaps datum A had an errant point? It might be hard to troubleshoot now that the program is changed. Do you still have the old program?

All I did was delete the model and its corresponding files. Then I imported a
fresh model. I also did the cad model comparison. That eliminated the problem.
